Scientist for Downstream Manufacturing

The Position

You will be part of a scientist team within the Microbial manufacturing department consisting of 15 highly skilled upstream and downstream scientists. 

As a downstream scientist, you will plan and perform recovery and protein purification steps in the manufacturing process. Centrifugation, homogenization, filtration, chromatography steps and final formulation of the product with dia-filtration are examples of unit operations in the process.  

The recovery processes are mainly stainless steel equipment whereas the purification part to a high extent uses single use equipment. Your responsibility will include involvement in daily production and associated processes like writing batch documentation, preparing for manufacturing and reviewing batch documentation.

You will actively take part in the manufacturing process and be participating in customer meetings, customer audits and audits from DMA and FDA. Together with the team, you will be responsible for delivering final formulated product and for securing a high quality in the batch documentation in close collaboration with QC/QA. 


Experience and Competencies  

The candidate we are looking for has: 

  • + 5 years of experience form the pharmaceutical industry. 
  • A master degree within science e.g. chemical engineer. 
  • Experience with recovery of cells and proteins using continuous disk stack centrifuges. 
  • Experience with protein purification processes, especially of clinical grade material. 
  • Experience from working according to cGMP. 
  • Experience from audits with DMA or FDA. 
  • Experience from working with purification systems like Unicorn and Äkta. 
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal 
  • Lean oriented

You strive in a dynamic environment where sudden changes may occur, so it is important that you can cope with such uncertainties. You need to be a good team player with good communication skills.
